EMDR
Trauma Conscious Yoga
&
other Somatic Based approaches

As you will notice below, many of these methods overlap and inform each other.

Guided Meditation

This could include guiding you through breath work, guided imagery, active imagination, grounding, and mindfulness practices.

Trauma Conscious Yoga & Other Somatic Based Approaches

This might look like utilizing pranayama aka breath work, body scans to assist in exploring the connection between emotions and sensations, intuitive movement, stretching, asana as well as guided meditations that incorporate all of the above.

Dream Analysis

This is fairly self-explanitory.  If this approach interests you, I would encourage you to keep a dream journal to record your dreams before they're forgotten and note the dates in relation to happenings in your waking life.  We would explore the many layers of your dreams' meanings, your personal associations, and the transpersonal and archetypal.

Utilizing Art in Therapy

Studying symbols, archetypes, and metaphor for many years while studying depth psychology, and various art therapy trainings taught me how useful putting our experiences to tangible images can offer catharsis, processing, release, and empowerment through expression.

Sandtray

Similarly as dream analysis and art therapy, playing in the sandtray is another medium for expression and exploration and offers similar benefits.

Ritual, Symbolism, & Synchronicity

By now, you've probably realized the importance I place on symbolism.  Exploring and incorporating cultural healing methods, rituals, and psychedelic integration can really enhance the healing process.  Studies show how healing rituals, both done alone and especially in community, can open up the psyche to further integrating our intention for healing and transformation.

EMDR

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing aka EMDR is an evidenced based practice that uses various forms of bilateral stimulation to assist in processing traumatic experiences and more.  It is important to note that many indigenous healing methods have used bilateral stimulation long before the invention of EMDR, i.e. ritualistic dance, drumming, etc.

Treatment Methods & Specialties

My Ideal Client

My ideal clients are curious and yearn for a deeper understanding of themselves and the world around them, they are willing to try new ways of being and seeing if it means it may positively impact their lives or expand their way of viewing themselves and the world around them.  The coping skills they learn become lifelong tools that transform the way they see themselves and the world.  I strive to help clients gain deeper self-understanding, develop self-compassion, and comfortably be their most authentic selves.

What it's Like to Work with Me

Our first session might feel a bit like a two-way interview.  I will be asking lots of questions to get to get to know you and best understand what you are needing from therapy.  I will also provide space for you to ask me any questions you may have about me and what to expect from our time together.  If time allows, I will teach you a grounding, mindfulness, or breathwork skill.  If you are comfortable with it, we may even start with one of these practices to calm your nerves as people often share feeling nervous about their first session.

Using a trauma informed approach means that you will experience gender affirming care, a harm reduction approach.

Not only do I have many years of education, training, and professional experience in the mental health field, I also have a wide range of lived experiences that inform my work.  I have learned that a great sense of humor goes a long way so if you love to laugh or would love to learn to laugh in the face of adversity, I am your person!
